On January 6th, a New York State Flower Industry's (NYSFI) event was held at the American Legion in Eden for greenhouse growers in Western New York. Approximately 75 greenhouse and garden center business owners and employees attended. Each year NYSFI holds an annual educational event regarding the agricultural industry relating to business, marketing, environment and more.

Steven Vanuga, Regional Vice President of Adjusters International/Basloe, Levin & Cuccaro presented on pre-loss and post-loss actions related to property insurance in the agriculture, horticulture, and floriculture industries. As part of his session, Vanuga explained to business owners and their employees the effects that a natural disaster such as a severe storm or flood can have on their business. He provided education on how to minimize their risk of loss of income, product and inventory. Vanuga focused on simple procedures that could be incorporated into any existing disaster plan and shared proven techniques that could be used to get back in business sooner rather than later.
